#RADventure time: Day Hike to Mt. Gulugod-Baboy

Saturday night, I posted the below Mt. Gulugod-Baboy day hike itinerary to my college barkada page, BG XP. Then these two answered, Marina and Bug (Thanks mga bebe, I was not alone for this hike.)

Me, Marina and Bug

Gulugod-Baboy is the general term that describes the hills that traverse Calumpang Peninsula. It has three peaks: Gulugod Baboy, Pinagbanderahan, Tore. It is 525 MASL and at its peak, you can see, from east to west: Janao Bay, Maricaban Strait which bears Sombrero and Maricaban Islands, a distant, faint blue Mindoro, Verde Island (SW) and Batangas Bay. (wikipedia)

Gulugod-Baboy is a Filipino word meaning pig's spine. The mountain got its name from the contours of the peaks which resembles a pig's back as seen from Janao Bay. (cto)

Mt. Gulugod is a minor climb with difficulty level of 2/9. But regarding to Bugkev, it is 9/9 difficulty level. (Lols!)

We took a bus bound for Batangas Pier, tell the bus conductor to drop you off at the Grand Terminal. From Grand Terminal, we took a jeep going to Mabini.

We were dropped at Crossing, Mabini as there were already tricycles there to take us to the jump-off point, Philpan Resort.

Start of the trail was a very steep pavement but the air was so cool and fresh so we didn't mind. The view as we hiked was so beautiful. There is also a forestry part of the trail. There are also houses there where they sell halo-halo.

Second summit was the real one
We're so near yet so far

There was a grass fire when we reached the summit. Thank God, the guide was able to stop it and it did not spread to the entire mountain.

We started to descend at around 10:15. We did not forget to try their Halo-Halo, though. We also went to SM Batangas to eat our lunch.
